Moving air is different from continued firing

Some furnaces keep the blower running briefly after the heat request ends. For example, the Daikin DM96TN/DC96TN instructions (July 2023) describe a blower off-delay after the gas valve is de-energized. Your model determines its normal timing. Daikin operating sequence, pages 39–40.

That does not explain away an ongoing rise in room temperature or continued burner operation. Describe what you already observed without opening a door or repeatedly switching modes. Warm air for a short period and uncontrolled heating need different assessments.

Record the thermostat's off display, the room temperature trend, and any recent repair or installation. Tell the service company whether the concern began immediately after that work. The timing is important, but it does not identify the failed control.

Get specific shutdown guidance

Ask the qualified responder how to make the equipment safe for your exact model and circumstances, and who will attend. A generic instruction to “flip the furnace breaker” is not enough for every overheating or gas-shutoff failure.

For example, Daikin's manual gives a specific gas-before-electric shutdown warning when overheating occurs or gas does not shut off. Do not use that warning as an invitation to find or manipulate an unfamiliar valve. Obtain immediate qualified direction, and leave if safe access or control cannot be established. Daikin overheating warning, page 3.

We recommend treating confirmed continued heating as a control concern to resolve before further operation. Do not test it by removing wires, moving a jumper, or changing parts.

What the follow-up should answer

Ask the technician to distinguish a continued heat request, control fault, or other confirmed cause from blower-only operation. Request the checks supporting the finding, the repair performed, and verification that heating stops as intended.

If this follows a repair, supply the earlier invoice and request follow-up on that work. Responsibility and charges depend on the findings and actual terms, not the order of events alone.

Your next action is urgent qualified contact for actual continued heating, with emergency evacuation if there is danger. Normal after-run can be explained, but a furnace that will not stop producing heat needs more than reassurance.
